Hi friends!
I’m feeling a little twitchy.
::::Biiiig stretch::: Hello!
Are you feeling it to? This urge to do… something. To get a little more active, to connect and create something new?
My back is stiff and tense from curling into the fetal position all winter, and I just don’t have any more patience for doom-scrolling posts that give us no channel to action.
This happens to me every year for Chūnfēn, the spring equinox. A shaking reminder that I don’t just stand on the surface of the earth and manipulate nature to my whims - I’m a part of the whole solar system and cycle of our ecosystems.
I have limited capacity, and my energy changes in tandem to what’s going on in the world.
Frustrating.
Okay but hey - why not run with it?
‘Tis the time of year to get a grip!
If, like me, you have a history of pushing too hard through winter, hitting the ground running in March, only to face-plant by mid-April, maybe you need a little help.
I was tired of burning out through winter and ending up in the hospital every spring. (SO expensive and such a time-suck!)
So I had to (ugh) recognize my limits and change my pace to keep showing up for those I care for. This was the foundation for our seasonal collectives.
It worked - I don’t burn out anymore.
I make a deeper impact. I’ve built friendships and modeled sustainable activism for both our community members and the Little Earthquakes in my care. My body has stopped resorting to screaming SLOW THE F DOWN by breaking down - so I no longer end up in the hospital every spring.
And all of it hinges on five basic principles. Strategies? I don’t want this to sound too self-helpy or businessy, it’s just ‘Five things I do to anchor me when I’m feeling overwhelmed.’
It works so well, other folks in our community started to embrace it too. According to zero scientific measurements, I’ve observed that we are all 15% more chill now.
So with that, I’d like to invite you to join our third annual Busy Parents Guide to Getting Sh*t Done workshop.
In five self-paced capers, we take a big step back for perspective using those five anchory-things to shrug off the brain clutter and take small steps toward big change.
I could do this alone, but it’s less fun that way. Also, I’m tired of explaining the same five basic 101 principles to folks who come to me, burnt to a crisp, asking for help after their good intentions just blew up in their faces.
There’s a lot of very terrible things in the world, so many people who urgently need your help.
WHO HAS THE TIME to stop and get a grip? THE WORLD IS ON FIRE!! And you care SO MUCH! What right do you have to bogart your power and resources?!?
I don’t want to stop you from helping - but I do want to keep you from over-extending yourself so much that you harm others.
If you joined me in previous years, you know how important it is to revisit and renew your commitment to transformative action.
If you don’t feel overwhelmed and spread in a bazillion different directions help - good for you, skip it!
But if you do want to join us - please do!
About the Getting Sh*t Done Workshop
The workshop includes five 20-minute capers to explore at your own pace
Each caper includes a short video to guide you along with transcrips, a printable guidebook, and a super easy call to action
We launch April 1st, with each of the five capers dropping to your inbox every Monday in April.
Connect with me and other parents in our member portal and group chat for support throughout the month.
Access is free for Luminary Braintrust (LBT) members.
This year I’m also giving paid Substack supporters free access to the workshop through the month of April.
If the LBT minimum sliding scale rate ($5) would impact your ability to pay for housing, food, or healthcare, reach out to me directly and we’ll work something out.
This is just one of the many resources you get in the Luminary Braintrust
Our Luminary Braintrust (LBT) is the space where we where parents experiment with sustainable ways to bring online activism into real-life spaces.
It’s also where I hang out and make friends. Cause this work gets lonely!
While I do have a tendency to over-give, the Luminary Braintrust is reciprocal - your membership supports my work and helps me feel less like I’m shouting into the void.
Join this spring and get access to our twice-monthly Spring Hangouts.
Coming up next
I’ll be back in next week with a new and updated April Family Action Toolkit!
with you,
Ashia
