This June the Luminary Braintrust hosts a series on ways we sabotage our own activism here on Substack, free to the public. We’ll return to weekly updates in July.
Make it all about YOU
Are you a good person? Is your sense of self entirely dependent on how others see you? Do you have a flair for the dramatic and a penchant for hysterics?
Well, buckle up, buttercups – you’re about to be a star!
Deep down, you know that if you close your eyes and block your ears, everyone in else kinda ceases to exist. The world revolves around you, and you’ve developed exactly the right persona to lead us all into the next level of chaos and exhaustion.
Sabotage - it’s so easy you’re already doing it!
Click through to the sixth guide on our series to learn:
Demanding the respect and admiration you deserve
Setting ‘boundaries’ on other people to get them to behave
Motivating friends and collaborators through shame and insults
Flipping the script - if you can’t be a hero, be a victim!
Simple 5-step strategy to defeating your arch nemesis, Jessica
Last week to shut your eyes and clamp your hands over your ears!
Instead of working together and getting support, you should carry all these responsibilities by yourself. Otherwise, you won’t have an excuse for staying oblivious and failing to change!
In the Summer Luminator, we romp through goofy strategies, practical tips, and help you grow into the parent and social advocate you always wanted to be.
Ew yuck, who wants that?!
1 spot left. Enrollment closes this Sunday, June 30, 2024
Coming up next
Good news, everybody! I got that sabotage mischief out of my system and we return to normal Ignition Notes updates next week and Luminary Braintrust updates resume 7/12.
Which is just in time because over 2% of our subscribers didn’t get the intensely heavy-handed satire and unsubscribed. I genuinely find this hilarious - and a valuable way to extricate folks who are better served by other communities.
For the other 98% who stuck around - was this series exhausting? Unbearable? Did you like it? I can’t tell if you’d like me to [avoid/keep doing] goofy stuff like this unless you let me know in the comments!
Meanwhile - there is a spot left for you in the Summer Luminator!
I’ve eliminated the hurdles of cost (sliding scale or free!), scheduling (asynchronous or passive participation!), and legitimacy (you don’t need to be a fancy activist to join us!).
So if you’re interested in joining us but a little nervous, reply to this newsletter to share with me your concerns and hesitations. We can work something out. Act quick, enrollment closes this Sunday.
I thought the series was hilarious! Also, I found it actually quite useful as sometimes my inner monologue sounds dangerously close to this satire. The articles were a nice way to gently remind my sneaky inner critic that working alone isn't noble, it's actually harmful.
I thought this series was great! Funny and very useful.
