Trickster Resistance & the chaos we created
From loopholes to playful rebellion, here’s what we cooked up together in the Luminary Braintrust

Hey friends,
Are you feeling overwhelmed and horrified? Feeling helpless in the fight against US policies targeting immigrants, transgender youth, and public servants?
If you’re in a position to openly oppose and fight while keeping your family safe - great! That’s awesome. Keep it up.
However, not everyone is in such a secure position. Members of our community are struggling to keep the jobs that support our families, struggling with a sudden increase in work and losses of government support, and facing increased personal risk from emboldened supremacists.
So if your employer, politicians, or neighbors are the threat - whether they are complying in advance, throwing you under the bus, or actively taking steps to disempower you - you can still resist, even in spaces where you’re not safe to openly fight back.
If you can’t smash the kyriarchy - subvert it!

Luminary Braintrust Presents: Trickster Resistance
This month, we wrapped up our Trickster Resistance Collab Lab, gathering and creating resources to help caregivers model subversive, joyful, rambunctious approaches to resisting fascism.
While some of our features are for members-only, such as our guided discussion on dismantling supremacy and how to talk with kids about trickster movies like Nezha and Robin Hood, most of our tools are free and open to the public.
To be honest, the best parts of our Trickster Lab happened in the LBT chat group, so I wasn’t able to share everything—including nuanced discussion about the thin line between embracing trickster energy and just being a jerk. Or how tricksterism embraces joy, keeps us motivated, and ropes in a larger crowd for resistance. Or how learning about tricksters helps us raise culturally responsive kids.
So if you’re tired of navigating challenges like these alone - join the LBT community and get in on the chat before our next Collab Lab project kicks off ;)

I’ll be back next week with our March Family Action Toolkit updates.
Meanwhile, can you do me a favor to support trans kids?
Public servants in the Department of Education are asking you to make a short public comment against banning transgender and nonbinary students from accessing financial aid for college.
According to our friend Shannon, the more comments we submit, the longer the Department of Education can stall while we build more protections for trans & nonbinary students. I know it’s intimidating to make a public comment, but the DoE genuinely welcomes your voice and you really can’t screw this up.
Every comment helps trans and nonbinary kids see that they are not alone - we’re here to demand equal opportunities to keep them safe.
I really appreciate that you care about our kids, and are willing to speak up <3
with you

PS: Sending a heavy-duty virtual hug to our newest supporter, Acacia C., and the other 25 awesome folks who support these newsletters so I can keep it free & accessible!
PPS: If you realized that making a public comment really isn’t that hard and you’re up for a couple more - protect trans adults and kids access to passports so they can stay safe when shit hits the fan.
